The Process:

  • Step 3 – Group formation
  • Step 4 – Application Form

Whether you are a leader with a group of people ready to start, or you are an individual wanting to get involved, the first step on this meaningful journey is to register your interest with the Irish Red Cross, (National Support Organisation for Community Sponsorship Ireland).

Register your interest by phoning or emailing our team:
Phone: 1800 753 343
Email: info@communitysponsorship.ie

Following your call or email, you will be contacted and connected with a member of the team who will be your dedicated guide and support throughout the programme, from getting started, to the achievement of welcoming and integrating a family.  Our work as the National Support Organisation is conducted in partnership with Nasc, the Irish Refugee Council and Doras.

Mobilise a group in your community (of at least 5 people) utilising their personal and professional skills.

Successful examples (but not limited to), include:

  • Philanthropists eager to contribute resources, time, and influence to meaningful causes.
  • Professionals from business, health and humanities, sport – still working or retired with a desire to use their skills to help people who are more vulnerable.
  • Members of faith-based organisations: Leaders of churches and religious groups or motivated members.
  • Community champions – Individuals with strong local influence, such as business owners, religious figures, or those involved in local charities or sports organisations.

We recommend coordinating yourselves into some or all of the following roles:

  • Primary Sponsor
  • Secondary Sponsor
  • Housing Coordinator
  • Accounts Coordinator
  • Communications Coordinator
  • Language Coordinator, and Interpreter
  • Fundraising Coordinator
  • Educations & Employment Coordinator
  • Health & Welfare Coordinator, Appointment Accompaniment, and Cultural/Social Coordinator

As a group, complete and sign the Application Form. We will help you through this application process. This document demonstrates the skills and strength of your group and will be submitted to the Irish Refugee Protection Programme (IRPP) for their review.

With the Government’s formal approval of your Community Sponsorship Group, you will be permitted to proceed with the following next steps, all with continued support and guidance from your Community Sponsorship Officer:

  • Fundraising
  • Accommodation
  • Settlement Plan
  • Budgeting

We look forward to hearing from you!
